We all have bad days from time to time, and they are no fun at all!! Whether it’s one of those days where everything seems to be going wrong or you just wake up in a bad mood, there is no reason to let it affect your entire day. Here are 10 things that I do to help turn a bad day around – hopefully this will be helpful to some of you as well!
1. Listen to your favorite music
Play it as LOUD as you want!! I love to blast upbeat country music in the car whenever I’m having a bad day, and it always makes me feel better! Or if I’m at work, I will put my headphones in (which also helps me to focus!) My go-to station right now is “Today’s Country” on Pandora.
2. Exercise
Get those endorphins going!! Go for a walk, do a yoga video (Yoga with Adriene is my favorite,) lift some weights, go for a run, whatever you enjoy doing! I promise you will feel SO much better afterwards!!
3. Talk to your bestie
Have a coffee date, a girls night, or talk on the phone if you can’t in person (or text if you’re not big on talking on the phone like me haha.) A little girl (or guy) time is good for the soul!
4. Do your hair and makeup
I personally feel that when I look good, I feel good! When I’m having a bad day, I like to spend a little extra time on my hair and my makeup and it always makes me feel better. This also helps me want to get out of the house instead of sitting around sulking – just throw on your favorite outfit and you’ll be good to go!
5. Do (or plan) something that you love
Read a book, write in a journal (or blog 😉 ) watch funny videos on YouTube, plan a trip, take pictures, binge watch a Netflix show, etc! Whatever you enjoy doing – do that!
6. Play with puppies
If you don’t have a puppy, play with someone else’s! If you don’t have access to a puppy, google cute puppy videos and just try not to smile!
7. Pamper yourself
Treat yourself to a mani/pedi, a massage, facial, or a blowout if you’re into that – or if you’d rather stay home, create your own “spa” experience with a face mask, a bubble bath, glass of wine, chocolate, whatever you like!
8. Get outside
A little Vitamin D ALWAYS puts me in a better mood – just make sure that you’re wearing sunscreen!
9. Look at motivational quotes on Pinterest
I’ve just started doing this recently and I surprisingly love it! You can search for whatever kind of inspiration you need whether it’s positivity, motivation, affirmations, etc. and there are tons of quotes that will help lift you up. If quotes aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other things to get distracted with on Pinterest!
10. Online retail therapy
I am not really a fan of malls or stores, but I LOVE to find a good deal online!! I highly recommend buying from retailers that have a free and/or easy return policy to make your life easier should you need to send anything back. Nordstrom is one of the best!
As always, thanks so much for for reading! I’d love to hear what you all like to do when you’re having a bad day too! Leave a comment below 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!!
