lounge set // bed // quilt // blanket
One of my favorite things about fall is that it’s officially cozy season 🙂 There’s just nothing better than snuggling up with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate (or a glass of wine – I won’t judge!) and watching a movie on a chilly evening. I’ve been adding a few simple decorative touches to my home to make it feel more warm and welcoming, and I wanted to share a few of my favorites!
- Add big, cozy throw blankets:Â The more blankets, the better in my opinion! I drape them on the couch, on the bed, on chairs, just about everywhere. And if you haven’t experienced a Barefoot Dreams blanket… it’s life changing. The ultimate cozy home necessity and also makes for a great holiday gift!!
2. Swap flowers for greenery: I love filling the house with flowers during the spring and summer, but when the weather starts to drop I swap them out for greenery. I just love having plants around – not only do they product oxygen which purifies the air, but they also give the space such a cozy feel!
3. Pile on the pillows: Adding soft and comfy pillows is the easiest way to instantly make a space feel warm and inviting. I always start with a few big and fluffy neutral pillows and then add some more decorative seasonal designs.
4. Add a fluffy area rug: Who wants to be walking around on cold floors in the fall? Not me! I recently added this area rug to my living room and it’s made such a difference!! It’s so soft and gives the space such a warm and homey feel.
5. Put candles everywhere: I’ve always loved candles, and I burn them every single day in the fall and winter. I always go for the warm scents like vanilla, apple spice, etc. to make my house smell amazing. I also love the look of candle lanterns and candle stick sets!
6. Add poufs to living areas: Fall is the season of gathering, and poufs are an easy and decorative way to add more places to sit, put your feet up, or hold a tray with snacks and drinks!
7. Swap curtains to a heavier fabric: Light and breezy curtains are perfect for the summer, but come fall I like to swap them out with a thicker material to give my home more of a warm and cozy feel.
8. Add seasonal dishes:Â Swapping out your traditional dinnerware for some seasonal plates, bowls, or even placemats. is an easy way to add a festive touch – especially for family gatherings! I’m all about some cute Holiday mugs too!!
9. Use lamps instead of ceiling lights:Â I always opt for lamps instead of ceiling lights in the fall because they give off such a nice, warm glow instead of a harsh bright light.
10. Add a seasonal wreath:Â The outside deserves a cozy touch too! Wreathes are so festive and the perfect way to add a welcoming touch to your home this fall.
