We’ve all been spending more time than ever at home this year, and with all the stress and craziness going on, it’s so important to take care of ourselves! I’ve been incorporating a little “self care Sunday” pampering into my weekly routine and it’s been such a great way to end the week on a relaxed note, and go into the new week feeling refreshed and energized. I’ve put together some of my favorite ways to create a luxurious spa experience right at home!
Spa Attire
Relaxation starts with being comfortable, so slip into your coziest robe and slippers, or pajamas! Whatever you are most comfortable in.
Ambiance
Dim the lights and light your favorite candle and/or use an essential oil diffuser! I personally love diffusing lavender oil – not only does it smell amazing, but it helps promote relaxation and reduces stress. Play some calming music for an even more spa-like experience.
Spa Drinks
I always like to prepare a “fancy” drink to make it feel like I’m at an actual spa! A few of my favorites are fruit infused water (cucumber water and citrus water are both tasty) or tea, wine, or champagne!
Pampering
A few of my favorite spa activities to do at home:
- Steam facial: This helps to open up your pores and loosen any buildup or dirt for a deeper cleanse and glowy looking skin! To DIY: bring a pot of water to a simmer and (optional) add a couple drops of your favorite essential oils. Pour the water into a bowl, drape a towel over your head and hold your face about 6 inches over the water for 5-10 minutes.
- Face mask: A few of my favorites are Tula clay mask, Generation Clay ultra violet mask, and HelloBody coco clear mud mask.
- Facial massage: Use a cold jade or rose quartz roller to give yourself a facial massage! Not only does it feel amazing, but there are so many benefits to facial rolling. Pro tip: store your roller in the freezer so it’s nice and cold! This will help to instantly depuff and tone your face.
- Eye gels: Helps to sooth, hydrate, and reduce under eye dark circles.
- Microneedle: This helps to improve the appearance of skin over time by stimulating collagen and reducing the appearance of acne scars, brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles. This is the one I use – it’s not painful, I promise!
- Body scrub: I love the Raw Sugar Living sugar scrub (it smells amazing) but you could also make a DIY scrub using sugar, coconut oil, and essential oils!
- Massage: My husband and I will take turns giving each other back massages – make sure to use lotion or massage oil! I also have an electric massage pillow that I love.
- Bubble bath: Is there anything more relaxing? I love the Dr Teal’s lavender foaming bath – it smells amazing!
- Cooling eye mask: It’s easier to keep on your face than cucumber slices! Keep it in the freezer so it’s nice and cold.
- Hair treatment: My favorite is the Raw Sugar Living hair masque – it’s a deep condition that leaves my hair feeling silky soft for days!
- Scalp massage: Not only does it feel amazing, but scalp massages stimulate the cells within your scalp with increases blood flow and encourages hair growth.
- Foot soak: Perfect to do before a pedi!
- Foot mask: Helps to remove dead skin from your feet and leave them feeling soft and smooth.
- Mani/Pedi: I have been loving the press on nails lately, but you can also use your favorite polish! They even make gel manicure sets now if you want to go all out.
- Aromatherapy shower: To DIY: hang eucalyptus behind the shower head (it doesn’t need to touch water) and the steam will release the oils! This helps a lot with congestion, which is especially helpful during allergy season. I usually find eucalyptus at Trader Joes, but you could also use an essential oil spray to create the same effect.
