My family LOVES bourbon. My parents have been collecting it for years, and got my husband started on collecting it too. We now have a full bar in our house for the bourbon collection, and although it’s nowhere close to my parents – it’s pretty impressive! I’ve never been a big liquor drinker, but I do enjoy visiting the distilleries and hunting down the “rare” bourbons for our collection. It’s a fun game!
I wanted to come up with a bourbon cocktail that even non-bourbon drinkers (like myself) would enjoy – and I think I hit the jackpot! I incorporated some of my favorite fall flavors, and it turned out deliciously refreshing. You can use any type of bourbon for this recipe, but per my husband’s recommendation I went with Woodford Reserve. It’s a great bourbon that isn’t too expensive or hard to find. Also, make sure to use pure maple syrup for this recipe – not Aunt Jemima.. you can save that for your pancakes 🙂
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon of choice (I used Woodford Reserve)
- 3 oz apple cider
- 1 oz pure maple syrup
- 1 oz ginger ale
- Optional garnishes: apple slices, cinnamon sticks, rosemary sprigs
Directions:
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice and add bourbon, apple cider & maple syrup
- Shake for 30 seconds, then pour in a cup over ice
- Top with ginger ale
- Garnish with apple slice, cinnamon stick and rosemary sprig
- Enjoy!
