Resort Review: Paradisus Los Cabos (Round 2)

March 8, 2022

A couple weeks ago my husband and I vacationed in Cabo and we stayed at the Paradisus Los Cabos, an all inclusive resort! This was actually our second time staying at this resort, and hence the “round 2” in the title, I wrote a review of the resort after our first trip back in 2018. You can check that out here! Obviously we loved it enough to stay here a second time, and it was even better than I remembered it! Beautiful beach, amazing food, lots of fun activities, and the staff was SO welcoming!

Since we are members in the Circle by Melia membership program, we received some extra special benefits this time around – I will cover those later in the post! Overall it was a WONDERFUL trip, I wish we could have stayed longer! Keep on reading for all the details.

Location / Transportation:

The Paradisus is about 30 minutes from the airport, and our transportation was a BREEZE thanks to our Circle membership. One of the member benefits is airport transportation, so we had a private driver waiting at the airport to take us directly to the resort. It was a really nice perk, especially after a long travel day. The Los Cabos airport can be hectic, but there are plenty of taxi and van services at the airport that you can use for transportation to the resort. Last time we took a van, and it was easy enough. Getting back to the airport is pretty much the same – we had a private driver because of our membership, but from the resort lobby you can schedule a taxi or van to take you back to the airport.

Room:

We stayed in an ocean view junior suite this time, and it was so nice!! Our balcony overlooked the main pool with the ocean in the background. The sunrise and sunsets were BEAUTIFUL!! The room was spacious, clean, and I loved the marble finishings. We had a king size bed (which was super comfortable!) along with a sofa, table and chairs, big TV, and plenty of storage space. The room had a Nespresso coffee machine and a fully stocked mini fridge. The mini fridge had an assortment of beer, juice, sodas, and water. One of our Circle Member benefits is that we could make special requests for the mini fridge, which was really nice! My husband asked for Corona one day and although they don’t normally have it at the resort (which we didn’t know at the time) they went out and bought some for us to have in the mini fridge. Talk about above and beyond service!!! The only downside to the room is that the counter space in the bathroom was on the smaller side. The shower was HUGE, but I didn’t have much space for my hair & makeup stuff while getting ready. I probably bring more makeup than most people though 🙂

Grounds:

This is one of the smaller resorts that we have stayed at, which we really enjoy. You don’t need to catch a shuttle or a golf cart to get around; everything is within walking distance. It was really convenient to be able to get back to the room within minutes from the pool or beach if we needed anything – this would be perfect for families traveling with kids and/or strollers.

Food:

The food at this resort is AMAZING – especially for an all inclusive! There are 7 restaurants now:

  • La Palapa: This restaurant is for Reserve guests only, and it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s outside, overlooks the ocean, and it was one of our favorite places to eat (especially breakfast!) The avocado toast and omelettes were my go-to’s for breakfast. Chicken tacos, and fish tempura for lunch (don’t forget chips & guacamole to start) and the steak for dinner was incredible!!
  • Naos: This is an international buffet open only for breakfast – we ate here one morning, and it was good! There was a large selection of options to choose from. Mexican dishes, made to order omelettes, cheeses, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, etc!
  • Capella: This is a casual Italian á la carte restaurant – we didn’t have a chance to eat dinner here, but heard from other guests that it was a favorite! We did grab breakfast one morning and it was a buffet style with similar selections to Naos.
  • Gabi Beach: This restaurant is open for lunch, and we loved the atmosphere! It’s laid back and overlooks the ocean. The menu had a ton of options – we shared quite a few things and it was all delicious. It’s conveniently located right next to the main pool, and you can also order from this restaurant from your pool chair if you want to.
  • Mole: This is the Mexican dinner restaurant and it is sooo good!! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My husband is obsessed with their salsa and has been talking about it since our last trip (nearly 4 years ago haha) – the guac is also amazing. We shared a few things on the menu, but the chicken mole enchiladas were incredible! I don’t think they’re on the menu, but worth asking about!
  • Tokimeku: This is an Asian fusion restaurant with a massive menu! We had sushi, ramen, mushroom soup, spring rolls, salmon and crispy rice. It was all amazing – definitely worth the food coma!!
  • Le Petit Chef: This restaurant is not part of the all inclusive, but it was SUCH a cool experience – we loved it!! Le Petit Chef is an immersive culinary concept that is only available in a handful of locations world wide. It’s a “dinner and show” – the restaurant is dark and your table turns into a screen where you watch the petit chef preparing and cooking the dish you are about to eat. The meal is 4 courses, and they were all amazing. We started with a buratta salad followed by seafood soup, lobster for the main course, and a fancy ice cream for dessert. It is a bit pricey (especially when other options at the resort are included) but we really enjoyed it!!

Since we were there on Valentine’s Day, the resort had a special 7 course dinner on the beach available that we did. It was one of my favorite meals of the trip! I’m not sure how often they do this type of dinner special, but if you have the chance I would definitely recommend. It was a small setup on the beach with only a few tables, live music, champagne, and 7 unique courses. We cleaned every plate, it was all so good!!

I would recommend making reservations for dinner so you don’t have to wait.

Activities:

One of the things I love about this resort is that there is a full list of activities each day: around the beach, pool, and the resort! So whether you want to nap in a cabana, take a class, or compete in a game – there is something for everyone. Our favorite was the mixology class – we had a blast and learned how to make 3 unique (and tasty) cocktails! We also loved the tequila tasting and all of the pool activities were fun – aquaerobics and trivia were my personal favorites! You do have to sign up for some of the classes, so make sure to ask about that!

There is also a golf course close to the resort, and my husband would have loved to play, but we will have to check it out during our next trip!

Amenities:

The Yhi Spa was amazing – I highly recommend booking an appointment during your stay! There are a variety of services available and we enjoyed a 50 minute couples massage, then relaxed at the spa pool for a while afterwards. I don’t say this often, but it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Our treatment was included with our Circle membership, and it might be one of my favorite member benefits!

We did not make it to the gym this trip 🙂 But the resort does have a really nice on-site gym. We used it during our last stay, and it was really nice! From what I remember it had some cardio machines, free weights, and some weight machines. Pretty much anything you’d need!

Pools:

There are two pools at the resort: the main pool which open to everyone, and an adults only pool exclusive for Reserve guests. We spent most of our time at the main pool, where we had a reserved cabana overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect spot to relax and whale watch! The main pool is a good size – plenty of room for swimming, and we loved the swim up bar! The pool was pretty slow in the morning but got crowded as the day went on – I would recommend grabbing a spot before it gets busy if you want to have your choice of lounge chairs or cabana. There is also an area reserved for Reserve guests which is what we took advantage of during our stay!

The adults only pool is exclusive for Reserve guests – it’s smaller, but perfect if you are wanting a more relaxing vibe from the main pool. There were plenty of lounge chairs there too, and a great view of the ocean! You can order food and drinks to your chair from both of the pools which we also enjoyed!

Beach:

The beach at this resort is absolutely beautiful!! The water is bright blue and so clear, you can see to the bottom – I could stare at it all day long! Los Cabos is known for having strong undercurrents, and a lot of beaches are not safe for swimming. At this resort there is a cove area with rows of lounge chairs and cabanas, and the water here is safe for swimming! Bring a snorkel if you want to see some fish – there were all kinds! If you leave the cove area there are miles of beach to walk down, but this is where the water is dangerous. The waves were huge and they come out of nowhere – I was snapping a photo and got taken out haha. Best to watch from a distance 🙂 We also loved the beach bar – the piña coladas were delicious and so refreshing!

Circle Member Benefits:

As members of the Circle by Melia membership program, we received quite a few special benefits that I wanted to highlight. If you are interested in learning more about the program, you can find more info on their website. We have been members for a few years now and we have had a wonderful experience!

This is not a full list of the benefits available, by the way – just the ones we took advantage of!

  • Private airport transfer to and from the resort
  • VIP check in – we were able to skip the main lobby desk and have a private check-in right in our room with our concierge. Check out was in the Reserve Lounge
  • Special bracelet to distinguish Circle Members from regular guests
  • Reserve benefits including access to the Reserve Lounge, personal concierge, exclusive restaurant, and adults only pool area. We really enjoyed the Reserve Lounge for coffee in the morning and premium drinks on the balcony before dinner. Amazing place to watch the sunset!
  • Priority reservations for dinner and activities
  • Premium wine list at dinner (ask for the QR code!)
  • Concierge who took care of everything we needed: reservations, special requests, questions, etc!
  • Spa Services
  • Personalized mini bar in the room

Aside from the membership, I would definitely recommend booking the Reserve upgrade option at this resort if you are able to. Although we did not stay in a reserve suite, we were able to enjoy pretty much all of the reserve benefits through our membership and we really enjoyed having access to La Palapa restaurant and the Reserve Lounge (pictured above) during our trip. The resort is amazing on its own but I do think it’s worth upgrading, especially if you’re traveling for a special occasion.

Overall we had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back one day! As always, feel free to ask any questions in the comments below 🙂

Thank you for this review! Very informative. Just booked a trip to Paradisus in Cabo for my wife, son and myself, and I was curious if I could join the Circle of Malia and apply there benefits you mentioned to our upcoming trip? Seems like between the seamless travel to/from airport and resort perks it would be worth it. Thank you!
